Our main objective is to facilitate the exchange of information and discussions by organizing Congresses and Symposium where beekeepers, scientists, honey-traders, agents for development, technicians and legislators meet to listen, discuss and learn from one another. Apimondia also aims to constitute the official voice of global Beekeeping Organizations on its incumbent matters through publications, advocacy, and representation of the sector to authorities and other related institutions. <\/strong><\/p>

Beekeeping is an agricultural activity that requires very little investment and can take place almost anywhere in rural or peri-urban areas. It is one of the agricultural productions that does not require land. However, it requires good know-how in order to manage bee colonies and to make choices of practices adapted to the environment. It is necessary to have a good knowledge and this is why integration of beekeepers and knowledge transfer is extremely important.\u200b<\/p>

Beekeepers come together in different organisations and levels. These Associations connect globally to regional federations and finally to Apimondia which is the International Federation of Beekeepers\u2019 Associations.<\/p>

Apimondia is a non-governmental organisation that brings together beekeepers, manufacturers of beekeeping equipment and a wide variety of scientists involved in apiculture, apitherapy, pollination, development and economics.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In\u00a01893\u00a0the International Committee of\u00a0Apicultural Congress<\/a>\u00a0was set up and in 1897\u00a0organised the First International Apicultural Congress in Brussels in conjunction with the World Fair. The attendance was huge, with 636 participants. During this time the International Apicultural Exhibition was held in Tervueren with 339 exhibitors from 10 European countries.<\/p>

Since then, Apimondia has been promoting knowledge transfer and organising beekeepers\u2019 events and the biennial\u00a0International Apicultural Congresses, which are the largest international gatherings of all involved in apiculture.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
